PETOSKEY REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

RECOGNIZED AS MOST OUTSTANDING CHAMBER IN MICHIGAN

LANSING, MI, October 31, 2005 – The Board of Directors of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce Executives (MCCE) recognized the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce with the 2005 MCCE Outstanding Chamber of Commerce Award—Mid-Size Category and Most Outstanding Chamber of Commerce—Overall Award at the MCCE Fall Leadership Conference held at Boyne Mountain on Thursday, October 27, 2005.

The Outstanding Chamber of Commerce award is given to one chamber of commerce in each of three budget categories—small, mid-size and large chambers of commerce—and to the highest scoring chamber of commerce overall.  The honor recognizes quality, innovation, and effectiveness of programming in chambers of commerce across the state.

MCCE acknowledged the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce for its creativity in its “Drive for 105” membership campaign and its innovative “Shopping Scramble” and downtown wireless internet access efforts. The Petoskey Regional Chamber was also noted for its model local and regional advocacy programs on behalf of the business community, specifically for its work in supporting post-Labor Day school openings.

MCCE also recognized the Detroit Regional Chamber with the 2005 MCCE Outstanding Chamber of Commerce Award—Large Category and an honorable mention to the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce for its work in the Mid-Size category. No award was presented in the Small category.

The Michigan Chamber of Commerce Executives is a statewide organization of executives involved in the management of chambers of commerce. Its purpose is to promote excellence and high ethical standards for chamber professionals through education, information and networking opportunities. It represents more than 100 local chambers of commerce in Michigan.
